Karen Philippi found a camera on top of the fridge when she was almost 5 years old and instantly fell in love with making images. Yet she patiently waited until she finished formal training in photography and sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to begin her professional career.

Working in both film and digital media, she creates everything from studio and location-based commercial product images to artistically rendered environmental portraits, weddings, and architectural places and spaces.

Karen draws on the wide range of experiences and resources she has collected throughout her 10 years as a professional photographer. Teaming up with photographer Paul Clancy, she has traveled extensively to work on projects for Audi, Blue Cross, Polaroid, Keystone Vale Resorts and Aspen Tech-Europe and USA. Closer to home, her work also has been featured in "Anthony Quinn's Eye," "Inquire Within: A Social History of the Providence Athenaeum since 1753" and "Last-Minute Fabric Gifts."

In her free time, Karen enjoys motorcycling and travel.
